GoblinX Platinum is a bootable live CD based on Slackware, released this week by the Brazilian development team. As free software spreads throughout Latin America, we can expect to see more contributions from there, which should accelerate adoption on the continent. GoblinX is intended to be a next generation bootable desktop. You can see the release announcement here.
